My family will be going on vacation to the Philippines from the 1st to the 9th of January. I have no idea if we'll have internet connection at any point, so I probably won't check email, my blog, or anything else during that time. =) We might have our cell phones, but with different numbers, maybe. So if for some reason you want to be able to contact us while we're away, talk to my mom or dad, or talk to me, and I'll talk to them. =)
See you,
Andrew

Merry Christmas!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!
I know Christmas is passed, but I didn't post then, and better late than never, right? =)
Anyway, may the Lord of Peace grant you rest during this hectic season. I know I sure need it! =)
On another note, here's a video of the Gaya Street dance:

Gaya Street
Gaya Street 2007 has come and gone. For those of you who don't know, The Gaya Street Christmas Carnival has been a yearly event for the last three years. It is put together by the Sabah Council of Churches and the Kota Kinabalu city hall, and takes place in an outdoor venue in downtown Kota Kinabalu. Each year, our youth group, Powerhouse, has participated in this event, and for the past two years, Laura and I have had the privilege of participating. Last year, Laura was in the hip-hop dance and I was in the drama. This year, we are both in the drama (Laura was unable to be in the dance this year because of the extreme time commitment required). It was quite fun, although also very tiring. This year Gaya Street ran for three days, and Powerhouse performed on Friday, the final day.
On a rather unrelated note, yesterday (Friday), in the morning we went with some friends to see a Rafflesia, which is the largest flower in the world. The one we saw was much smaller than they can grow, but it was pretty cool nonetheless. =)
Here's a picture of Laura and I in the drama

And here's another one of Laura

And here's one of the entire cast

I'll try to get videos of the drama and (maybe) dance taken by a friend of mine so you can see more.

Hecticness
Well, this month continues to be busy, with no signs of stopping any time soon. =)
On Saturday we finally got Christmas decorations up. Yay! =)

Then on Sunday we had our SIL Christmas party.

Then on Sunday we had our SIL Christmas party.
We had a cake to celebrate Jame's birthday (which was on Monday)

In other news, our practices for our drama for Gaya Street are going well. With just over a week till we perform (Gagh!), we've had two practices this week, with two more scheduled before the week is over. Gabriel, who's the co-director/producer/etc will be going to KL for a week on Tuesday, so we'll see how we fare without him. =)
Can't think of anything else for now. I'll leave you with these: =)

Whew!
Well, it's been quite a weekend!
First, Laura had her sports day at school on Friday. She won two silver medals!
She got second in shot put, and in the 400 meter relay race (each racer ran 100 meters).

Then, yesterday, we went down to Kuala Penyu for the 100-days memorial service of a relative of the people we had stayed with when we lived down there. We sat through a 45-minute long mass in Malay, then we ate, and socialized (Well, actually, I mostly just read my book. =) ). It was kind of fun to see the people and places we knew 10 years ago, but the memories were tentative at best. =)

Then, to cap off a very full weekend, this afternoon, after church, we went downtown to watch the F2000 World Cup Powerboat Race. It was quite crowded. It seemed like all of KK had come to watch! =) The race took a while to get started, and even then it didn't last long. One of the boats crashed because of the rough weather, so they postponed it to tomorrow (Monday).
Oh, I almost forgot! With all that's happened this weekend, I forgot about Wednesday... =) On Wednesday, a friend (Christine) had a sleepover for the entire youth group at her house. We had a great time! =) The evening started out as a farewell party for Elsha, who will soon be moving with her family to KL. After the people who were there only for the evening had left, we watched several movies. First up was 'Material Girls', which, in my opinion, what quite boring. =) Next up was 'Deja Vu', which is one of the best movies I've seen recently, although still not as good as Stardust. =) We ended the night with 'ratatouille', after which we went to bed. I got about an hour and a half of sleep, but oh well. =) From about 6:30 to 10, most of the people were still asleep, so I just sat and read, but it was fun. =)
Till next time,
Andrew
